Culture Days
The Mission Cultural Resources Commission has made a concerted effort since 2016 to cultivate participation in Culture Days and make it into a major annual event in the community! We are very excited to bring Culture Days to Mission this year.
Culture Days are back in downtown Mission! Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture starting Sept. 23rd to Oct. 16th, 2022. This year’s downtown events include the launch of a new video series by the Mission Community Archives which highlights stories from our community’s past, like the 1953 Derby and featuring historic neighborhoods. Book a visit to the Archives for more photos, stories, and artifacts from Mission’s rich history. The Mission Museum will also be hosting a video presentation on Anthony Taulbut (1874-1949), an avid collector, historian, explorer, and pioneer whose contributions to the conservation of Mission’s history went hand in hand with his sense of community.
Downtown Mission is rich with opportunities to explore local arts and culture, whether it’s through tasting the world of cultural cuisine, community drumming and arts programs at the Mission Friendship Centre, moving your body in a dance class at one of our downtown studios, or hands on arts and crafts. Gallery 202 features a free public gallery showcasing local artists working in various mediums, which leads into their fun learning space where they’ll be offering classes for all ages and skill levels in manga art, clay workshops, or the pottery wheel! Culture Days is your perfect opportunity to explore downtown, discover new places, and connect with creative people in your community. We hope to see you there.
