The annual Mission Candlelight Parade is going ahead in 2020, but it is going to look a lot different than in previous years.
Working with the District of Mission, the BC Custom Car Association, local emergency services, and Fraser Health,a concept was developed for a reverse parade to take place over two nights at the Mission Raceway.
What is a reverse parade?
Due to COVID-19 event restrictions (and in the interest in keeping everyone as safe as possible) the Mission Chamber staff created the concept for a reverse parade that will have the floats set up as stationary displays and the spectators moving through the display zones. The experience will be complete with a very iconic coronavirus, physically-distanced photo with Santa.
This year the traditional event will be coming with some very non-traditional costs. The event will also be participant-restricted.
To help mitigate the costs sponsorships are being sought and there will be a nominal fee for the tickets to the event. Partial proceeds will be going to the Christmas Bureau, St. Joseph’s Food Bank, and the Chamber’s annual student bursary.
How can I attend the event?
Tickets will be available beginning November 12 to the public, the link will be published on the Chamber website at missionchamber.bc.ca.
Tickets will also be given away through promotional contests and local charities to help ensure no one is excluded from the opportunity due to the cost. Pay-It-Forward tickets will also be available for sale for those who have the means to “give” a little more this season.
